King Cobra Safeguards Two Pups In A Well For 48 Hours

This incident happened in Punjab, India, when two pups accidentally fell into a well. The owner of the pups found 2 puppies were missing and later found their mother barking near a shallow well.

Fortunately, he found the pups in the well that was almost dried; otherwise the pups would get drowned. However, the bad news is the pups were stuck in the well together with a deadly King Cobra. The owner was worrying that the cobra would attacks the pups anytime, he tried to make the snake stay away from his pups using the rope, or perhaps to distract the snake from attacking the pups.

Surprisingly, the cobra thought that the moving rope was a threat to him and attacked the rope. Unbelievably, the cobra not only protecting himself but also the pups from the rope. When the owner moves the rope between him and the pups, the cobra quick moves backward to the pups and attacks the rope again. Yes, the cobra seems safeguarding the pups from the rope, but why?

A cobra which was supposed to be a threat for all animals including human, was actually safeguarding the little pups. This reminds me of the movie "Life of Pi", they are pretty much in the same boat now.

People who gathered around didn't have the courage to get into the well and save the pups because the deadly snake. The pups and the snake remained in the well for 48 hrs, until the forest authority came and rescued the pups and the snake was released into the forest.
